Fitzco Parts Ways with Navy Credit Union and Cuts Staff
Fitzco was asked to defend it's long time relationship with Navy Credit Union last month. As it typically goes, the incumbent rarely comes out on top in a review. Fitzco lost the account to an un named agency. Fitzco brought Navy Federal to the forefront of Credit Union marketing. Their clever ads featuring Navy personnel in everyday life circumstances was both entertaining and solid communication to the target audience of active and retired Department of Defense personnel, employees, and their families.
A Navy Federal spokesperson said, "After 10 years with Fitzco, Navy Federal Credit Union conducted a scheduled review of its agency services. If there are any changes to our current agency partnerships, an announcement will be made at an appropriate time. Regardless of any decision, Fitzco will remain as the agency partner until October" The client declined to name the agency that won the review.
With a loss of this size, layoffs are soon to follow in this business. Fitzco is expected to layoff between 20-25 employees as a result of the change. This is approximately ten percent of the Fitzco staff.
We can only hope that the account stayed in the Atlanta market. The work was outstanding and there are a lot of fine people on the street as a result of this decision.
