Atlanta Advertising Sweats for Art

Yesterday was another 100 degree day. Fortunately, there is enough going on here at the agency where I didn't notice. However; after my day, it was still in the 90's and the it really took me a lot to pull it together to go to Creativity Atlanta's "For Art's Sake" party. I was glad I did. This event is still in its infantile form but it promises to be a big event as it gathers steam with the community and the community artists. Most surprising and enjoyable was Jon Lee Andersen's tree sculpture. I can say as an ad lawyer he was competing well with the artist set. Upstairs at Gordon Biersch is a great place to gather pool tables and a private bar. What more can you ask for. I was surprised by the number of people who attended this event in during the doldrums of summer new and old faces. Thom Gonyeau and his team are doing a great job of creating something great for the creative community. When I spoke with Thom, he told me they had purposefully solicited agencies for this years board and brought in 8 new board members from some of the players in the market. That's great!
Highlight of the evening. I traded my Russell warm up raffle win for a bucket of Callaway golf balls. With the way I'm playing that will save me a lot this summer.
