Giant Cow to Invade Turner Field

I grew up in the days when the big attraction at the Braves game was Chief Knock-A-Homer. A middle aged man in indian (native american) dress taking up the left field seats at the old stadium. A little kid could only stand 6 or 7 innings at the game before he was worn out and the Braves had already lost by enough that everyone knew we could never come back.

Today it's a different deal. They have Turner Toon Town, The Giant Coke Bottle, a mega screen to blare sponsor messages and now a Giant Cow to conduct the Tomahawk Chop. A kid could never get board much less pay attention to a professional baseball game. The whole thing reminds me of a radio spoof called Highly Sponsored Baseball where everything from the pitching rubber to the flag pole was sponsored.

This is too much. Derek Schiller, Atlanta Braves Marketing Director, has to wonder where it is going to stop and make it happen before baseball is just another ride in his theme park.
