Georgia Stops Traffic with a Creative Campaign to End Sex Trafficking Prior to the Super Bowl.

Many states and cities do their best to cover up their flaws, but you have got to be proud of the way Georgia and many organizations around the state have addressed our problem of sex trafficking.  With the Super Bowl coming to town in a few weeks, it's more important than ever to build awareness of this heinous issue. Georgia is one of the top 14 states for sex trafficking in the country.  Each night, an average of 100 juvenile girls are exploited in Georgia.  Our world class airport and ground routes along with the major conventions and sports events that come to the town make Georgia more susceptible than other states to this problem.

Last Wednesday, the Georgia Attorney's General Office, Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Department of Transportation, and an organization known as Street Grace teamed up to address the issue.  With school still out for holiday, they made use of 72 school busses.  The busses, representing a seat for each the 3600 children sold into trafficking each year in Georgia,  drove in procession to Mercedes Benz stadium, home of the upcoming Super Bowl.  Beforehand, a press conference was held at Atlantic Station with newly elected Govenor Brian Kemp and a powerful speech from recovered victim Shemeka Dawson.

With the intention of stopping traffic the buses were adorned with messages like, "IF THIS TRAFFICK MAKES YOU MAD, HELP US STOP IT. STOPTRAFFICK.COM."

Creative ideas can make a much larger impact than traditional PR activities.  The groups behind this even should be applauded for their creativity and efforts for our state and it's children. For all those whose commute was ruined because of the efforts, it was worth it.
